Engineering & Bore Design
Engineering and bore design is the process of developing a precise bore path that accounts for geotechnical conditions, allowable bend radii, and separation from existing utilities, while calculating drilling fluid requirements and pullback loads. The resulting design provides a detailed plan and profile to ensure structural integrity, safety, and regulatory compliance throughout HDD operations.
Horizontal Directional Drilling
Trenchless construction method that uses a steerable drilling rig to install pipelines or conduits along a predetermined bore path, minimizing surface disruption while maintaining precise depth and alignment through varying soil conditions. For Electric, Gas, Fiber, Sewer, Water or Pipeline up to 42” and 4,000 LF
Extensive Fleet Support
Our Fleet department manages approximately 300 pieces of Equipment with routine service requirements and unit replacement to ensure we have a young reliable fleet. Supported by our in-house mechanics and reliable suppliers to be available to our operations team 24/7
Potholing
Safely exposing existing underground utilities by means of our extensive supply of Vacs, Hydro Vac and supping supplies or hand digging when needed. Our Dig Crews stay ahead of our directional drill crews to maintain productivity
Pipeline HDD
Extensive background with experienced teams, training crossing obstacles such as roads, rivers, or developed areas by drilling a guided bore path and pulling the pipeline through it, ensuring minimal surface disruption while maintaining proper depth, alignment, and structural integrity.
Auger Jack & Bore
A trenchless installation method where a casing pipe is pushed forward using hydraulic jacks while a rotating auger removes soil from inside the casing, allowing precise underground crossings—typically beneath railroads or highways—without disturbing the surface above.
Fabrication & Fusing
Process of joining thermoplastic pipes, typically HDPE, using heat and pressure (butt fusion or electrofusion) to create a continuous, leak-free pipeline, followed by custom cutting, fitting, and assembly to meet specific project design and installation requirements
Wireline Team
Steering method in HDD that uses an electrical wireline to transmit data from downhole steering tools to the surface, providing continuous real-time bore path information for precise guidance and control. DAKOTA gyroscopic steering tool is a downhole guidance system used in some HDD to provide precise, real-time bore path measurements by referencing the Earth’s rotational axis, allowing accurate alignment and navigation in areas where magnetic interference makes conventional steering tools unreliable

Apprenticeship/
Journeyman program
Our apprenticeship and journeymen program provides structured training that combines hands-on work experience with Web/classroom assignments. Apprentices learn skills under the guidance of experienced professionals, progressing through stages of increasing responsibility. Upon completion, individuals achieve journeyman status, recognized as fully qualified in their trade with the expertise to work independently and mentor others
Project Management
Our Project management team has the discipline of planning, organizing, while overseeing tasks to achieve specific production goals within defined timelines and budgets. They set objectives, allocate resources, managing risks, and coordinating team efforts. CDL Program
DAKOTA is an approved Third-Party Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program in the state of Texas with 2 certified instructors on site. They train our team to safely operate commercial motor vehicles we utilize for our operations. The program combines classroom instruction on safety regulations and vehicle operation with hands-on driving practice. Graduates earn the skills and certification needed to secure and maintain a CDL

Fabrication Shop
DAKOTA’s welding fabrication shop specializes in cutting, shaping, and joining metal components to create or repair structures and equipment. Services often include custom metal fabrication, structural welding, precision fitting, and finishing. The shops support our directional drilling teams by fusing pipe and repairing tooling by delivering durable, high-quality metal products tailored to project specifications.
Maintenance
Our mechanics are responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of equipment, and building systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. They will troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and minimize downtime for our operations team. Skilled in using tools, technical knowledge, and safety practices, our mechanics support keeping our operations running smoothly day to day
